Onboard Special Aircraft, July 5: India today said it was willing to
talk to Pakistan on Kashmir although it didn’t agree with Pakistan’s
contention that Kashmir was the key issue between the two countries.
“I do not know whether I would agree with the projection that Kashmir
is the key among Indo-Pak issues. India has its own issues, but we are
not unwilling to talk to Pakistan on Kashmir,” the minister for
External Affairs, S M Krishna, told PTI on his way back from his 4-day
trip to Japan.

KARACHI: Hundreds of Sindhi Hindus gathered to welcome the decision
pertaining to the issuance of Indian visas to the Hindus of Karachi.
Their happiness rests in the knowledge that now they would soon be
able to take the ashes of their loved ones and immerse them in the
River Ganges, in Hardwar. However, they demanded that the Pakistan
government talk to the Indian government so that the visas are granted
to the rest of the people of Sindh too. A large number of Hindus,
especially those of Sindh, have been waiting for the last two decades
to take the ashes of their elderly relatives to India so that they can
be immersed in Ganges. In Karachi alone, the ashes of about 130 humans
are lying at a local cremation ground, as the Indian government was
not issuing visas to the relatives of the deceased…

NEW DELHI: India has contributed 1,53,200 tons of foodgrains to the
Saarc food bank which has an initial capacity of 2,43,000 tons to meet
emergency food demands of members of the South Asian Association for
Regional Cooperation…The food bank was operationalised on the basis of
the Colombo statement on food security adopted by the Saarc summit
last year. At the second meeting of the Saarc food bank board held in
Colombo on 12-13 February, it has agreed to transact its business in
terms of drawal of foodgrains by member states from their own reserves
as well as from reserves of other member states…

NEW DELHI: National Housing Bank (NHB) will host an electronic site
for the South Asia Housing Forum, which will facilitate the exchange
of knowledge, experiences, policies, programmes and strategies for
housing solutions among the member countries…As per the proposal, NHB
will also set up a secretariat for the South Asia Housing Forum
(SAHF). The member countries include Afghanistan, Pakistan, India,
Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Mauritius and Maldives…

KARACHI: Pakistan will resume provision of collaboration services to
Sri Lankan airports with its advanced aircrafts system after a gap of
two years, official sources in the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) told…
According to the contract signed by S Lanaka, CAA will update the
airport communication systems, landing, navigation and visual aids,
for safe operation of air traffic as per the guidelines defined by
International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). These systems direct
the landing and flying positions to pilots who arrive and depart from
an airport.

KATHMANDU: India has decided to provide an additional 30 MW of power
to Nepal, which is expected to relieve the country of its on-going
electricity crisis, affecting its people and industry. The decision is
in connection with Nepalese government's request made in April. Nepal
at that time was facing an acute power shortage with up to 18 hours
daily load shedding, Indian Embassy sources said…

NEW DELHI: India has allowed the export of 900,000 tonnes of wheat by
state-run firms and 650,000 tonnes of wheat products by private trade
as monsoon rains revived after a dry spell. The government rejected
demands of an export subsidy, making shipments viable only to
neighbouring Bangaldesh, traders said…
