The Centre for Microsimulation and Policy Analysis (CeMPA) at the University of Essex is looking for a researcher with a keen computational interest to join their team of developers and analysts.

The successful candidate will help develop the microsimulation models maintained at CeMPA. Key areas of interest, in addition to computational modelling, are distributional issues (economic and health inequalities, socio-economic determinants of health, impact of taxes and benefits), the economics of ageing, social policy (ex-ante and ex-post evaluation, macro-challenges to the welfare state), and life course analysis (including intergenerational redistribution). The selected candidate will also contribute to the development of a spatial version of EUROMOD, the open-source tax-benefit model for EU countries.

The appointee will also help produce research outputs for publication and disseminate the results of research and scholarship through appropriate activities inside and outside academia, such as participating in relevant national and international conferences and engagement events. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to co-author papers and contribute to the development of the CeMPA research agenda.

Application closing date is 9 March 2025.
