Hi. So I wasn't so drunk last night that I don't remember the
discussion about making a website.

I checked dnsstuff.com and it looks like pdxwi.com, pdxin.com, and
pdxwebinnovators.com are available. Surely the .org's are free, too, if
we want one of those instead.

I'd be happy to put up something simple for now, including a punbb or
the brilliant opinion.

If that sounds okay w/ everyone. Mainly I just sort of can't get in to
the Google Groups Groove, if you know what I mean. Would be nice to
have a "real" forum.

So let's hear opinions about those domain names, we could get one
hooked up this week.

Also, I had pitched the idea about fleshing out a bit of a fancier
website that showcases the projects and interests of the membership of
the PDXWI group. If anyone is interested, we could have a "special
interest" meeting perhaps next Wednesday or something like that, have a
drink or two, and throw around some ideas. Index cards fully optional.

Your thoughts?

One vote for pdxwi.com/org.

I've never heard of opinion before, looks pretty cool. Next Wednesday
sounds good.

I second pdxwi.com/org. Either of the forum packages look good to me.
Thanks for rolling with the website idea. I can't make it next
Wednesday, but I'll send some ideas along beforehand.

We should also probably start thinking about next month too. Where we
want to have it and whether we want to add anything more to the social
aspect. One place I've heard mentioned is Masu, in northwest. It has
a projector and food/drink. I'm told if you check with them in advance
you can probably reserve a few tables and the use of the projector. I
know a couple other places were mentioned, but the prohibition-related
policies were a concern. It also means I don't have to travel across
the river and get stuck in i-5 traffic. I mean at 7:00 why is there
still stop-and-go traffic? What's wrong with this town :-).

Another option would be to try to book a place and charge, or solicit a
sponsorship, but that will probably have to wait until we're a bit
larger. Another reason to start planning now and get the word out.

I think we've a winner with pdxwi (.com and? .org).

And I could meet next Wednesday (12th) if it was on the early side,
like 6 p.m.

Well let's skip the meeting idea this Wednesday, turns out it's not so
great for me either. How about I set up, for now, just a
forum.pdxwi.com and we'll move the discussions there. In fact, we can
just discuss ideas for the website there, too. I'll get that up in the
next day or so. Or if there's folks still up for meeting, we could chat
on IRC for an hour or so...

Anyone think they could come up with a slick, web 2.0 style logo for us?

It's actually at talk.pdxwi.com if anyone wants to start a discussion
there or play around. I haven't really tweaked it or anything, but I
was surprised at how easy it was to install.
