Hi Ya'll,

It looks like our Web site is on hold for now and this is the place for
messages.

Our "first Wednesday" pattern is kiboshed, but we can put together a
small meeting this month anyway. A topic has been proposed: create an
event for Webvisions[1] in July. It would be an excellent opportunity
to expand the group and show the out-of-towners what Portland's got.
Somebody mentioned doing something like FOSCON [2]. Sounds delightful
to me.

How about a small, informal "Third Wednesday" meeting at a bar - or
even perhaps just at our place here? We could talk about WebVisions and
whatever else seems interesting.

I've been trying to add folks on here to my LinkedIn profile but gosh
is that thing confusing. I'll keep trying. Do you have to like
"contact" someone before you can add them to your listy things?

Speaking of web app geekery, I couldn't help but set us up a group on
collectivex.com ... mainly because it launched today, to be frank. Just
had to check it out. If anyone wants to test drive it with me, just
drop me a line. Apparently users have to be "added manually."

Cheers!

I'm down for the Webvisions idea, and discussing it next Wednesday
works for me. The bar is alright, except for the previously encountered
"long table" division problem. I think a quieter, less distracting
environment might work better for the meeting, if just to help us take
it past the "this would be really cool if we ..." stage. If you're
offering, Ray, then I vote for your place as a better spot than a bar.
I know Urban Grind East and World Cup on 18th have private conference
rooms, but they both close pretty early. Something like that could work
as well if anybody knows of a similar place that stays open later.

I agree, informal is good. No worries this time about presentations
and projectors and stuff :-). There are a couple of other events on
the 17th, pdxMindShare and DevGroup NW. Though, I'm not sure if anyone
goes to those. The 24th is pretty open as far as I can tell, but
either work for me. I'll let you city people choose the best place.

Ray, sign me up for collectivex, I'd be interested in checking it out.

Oh hey, I didn't realize those other things were also on the 17th, was
just the first night that came to mind. I actually was thinking of
going to that DevGroup thing, though. Maybe we should say the 24th.

Any objections to that? Our place should be good for a low-key,
planning type meeting. If it's nice enough, we have plenty of chairs
and tables we can put in the back yard, and the wireless works out
there too.

Sounds good. We'll meet at Ray's on the 24th. Time? Address?

I think we shouldn't post this on Upcoming or anything. But, if you're
reading this and you'd like to help what PDXWI does for Webvisions,
please join us.

24th works for me, preferably 6:30 or later.

Having it on the 24th would work better for me, as well as a bunch of my
co-workers who couldn't make it last time.

You all should come to the DevGroup NW thing, especially since I'll be
presenting!

This all sounds very good to me. Let's plan on meeting at 7pm, May
24th, at our place (217 NE 30th). And just to make sure we're all on
the same page, this is just a small, informal planning meeting, not the
regular type event (though I'm sure all are welcome!). No
presentations, projectors, or anything... just discussing WebVisions,
group ideas, and perhaps website planning, if we're up to it.

We're on the 2nd floor, so if it's a hot day we'll have the meeting in
the back yard. We've chairs out there for probably two dozen, as luck
would have it! Feel free to bring something to drink, we'll probably
have some wine here.

I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow at the DevGroup meeting,
next week at the PDXWI planning meeting, or June 7, presumably our next
"full" meeting. Cheers!

Kelly - Congrats on the successful project & presentation last night at
DevGroup NW. Your custom DNN solution & the solid design work made for
a really inspiring talk.

Just a little reminder about tonight's meeting. We'll have wine on
hand, but feel free to bring some if you like. It looks like the back
yard just might be dry enough for us to enjoy if it doesn't rain
anymore.

If anyone's interested, my "screen name" on corkd.com is ray. Anyone
bringing a computer may also enjoy signing up for corkd.com (and being
my "drinking buddy") and we can share tasting notes about the wines.
Pretty neat. Very social networking and 2.0 and all that jazz. Kandace
is on cork'd also.

See you all tonight!

How'd it go on Wednesday? Sorry I couldn't make it. I had the rare
opportunity to be productive (read: alone and not at work) and decided
to take advantage of it.

We had a pretty good meeting. I'm not sure if we know what we're doing
for WebVisions (if anything?), but we do have a better handle on we'd
like to see from the Web site.

Real meeting is June 7th. Any leads on a spot for it?
