Hey Folks,

During last night's meeting I took some notes about what was discussed; you can see them pasted below. No big decisions were made about changing the format or cadence, but a lot of things were discussed. Please forgive the "stream of consciousness" nature of these notes :)

It's important that we not limit the decision making to those that were able to show up last night. Let's start a conversation in this email thread about what was discussed and any additional ideas about where we want to take the group moving forward. It may be worth time-boxing this discussion to 1 week so we can start making decisions, but that's up to the group.

Thanks everyone!
- Dustin

## Ideas
- Montly meeting, but presentations seasonally
  - Seasonal presentations can be bigger meetings
- Break for the summer ☀️
- Content committee - 3 people
- Need better planning ahead
  - We have a good meeting cadence, but no one knows what we're going to be discussing
- A centralized place to collect ideas - scratch pad, trello board. We have this on the website! Maybe this needs promotion?
- Can we bring folks in for content -> Need $$$

- Other formats:
  - Group code reviews
  - Lightning talks
  - Recorded conference talks with discussion
  - Mob programming - working on open-source software
  - 10-15 mintues case studies, here's how we solved a real problem
  - Series - Like talking on each part of SOLID for a few months, deployment, etc.
  - Group discussions. A guided conversation on something you know something about but may not feel like an expert.

## Challenges
- Gathering content
- A lot of responsiblility on the "coordinator" -- contact heavy so that they can gather that content

## Risks
- No content -> no attendees

## Possible Roles
- Content committee
  - Captain
  - First mate
  - Navigator
- Facilitator
  - "Scrum master?"
  - Product lead
- Job/tasks (what needs to happen)
  - Make sure there is a venue/space
  - Make sure there are greeters
  - Make sure there are speakers
  - Make sure attendence is accounted

## Communication
- Discourse - Better facilitator for communication, digests, messages aren't getting lost like in Slack
- Github - Using issues for discussion, Actions for broadcasting. Free
- Mailing lists - Broadcast-able
- Slack - great for chat, but we lose messages, hard to search

## Action items
- Investigate and start using Github projects to manage monthly meetings tasks - Dustin
- Open up conversation about communication - Jesse
- Coordinate content for October meetup - Jared (Jason, Jesse helping out)
- Coordinate social meetup for September - Wilfrid

Thank you for taking notes Dustin!

I would love to see us plan months in advance so we're not scrambling last minute.

I'd like to direct people to the Github projects board I created a while back.
I'd like to help out with this. We should have docs/tasks/checklists so that anyone can help out. Once we get this into a template then I think we'll have a smoother experience.
