Hi all,

I seem to have volunteered to lead the meeting on Tuesday next week. What needs to be done ahead of time on my part? Do the slides need to be updated and such? I should be at the Tuesday meeting at 6, so if there's nothing major, Kirsten, maybe we could have a quick 10 minute conference before the talks begin?

See ya'll Tuesday!
Shawna

PS: Sorry if this was covered in an earlier email. Travel + moving + job wonkiness has eaten a lot of my available brain space lately.

Howdy Shawna!

Nope! It looks like Sam LG is updating the slides as I type this.

Me and you are down to announce the meeting a week before and then day-of on Twitter, Slack, and the mailing list. I would prefer for you to be in the lead on those, with me as the backup, mostly because I post a lot of announcements for Thursday coworking and I think it’s better for the group if I am not seen as some sort of de facto leader. That said, though, I am happy to be the lead on announcements if you have too much going on.

Thanks Rico (and Sam, for slides!)

I would appreciate if you could send the reminders for this particular meeting. I'm happy to take the lead in the future, though.

Thanks,
Shawna

Would you like me to MC? I'm happy to do so, but I'm also happy to cede the duty if people are wanting to develop that skill. It's immensely satisfying and terrifying at the same time. :)

I took this to mean that Shawna wanted me to announce, but that she would still lead/MC the meeting. Do I have that right Shawna?

That's right, Rico! Thanks for the offer, though, Chuck! Appreciate it, everyone. :)

Updating the slides raised a question:  should we even promote the IRC channel anymore?  It seems to consist entirely of "user [nick] [joined | left] [IRC | the channel]".

I don't think so.

I would vote no, but I think we should put a note that let's users know to join slack if they do join the channel :)

Someone who actually knows what they're doing in IRC would need to do this.  Me == n00b.  :)

I'm not a channel op. Anyone (Reid?) an op that could change the topic?

/topic #pdxruby Come chat with us over at https://pdxruby.slack.com

We should probably also document it on the website as well. :)
