I just added PDXGit, which would love some out-of-town speakers.

New Relic has been batting around the idea of flying out prominent speakers from around the country/world to keep our engineers at the top of their game. Being new employees, Erica and I asked if anyone had also considered talking with the local user groups so all of Portland could benefit. This was received very well. 

In order to make that happen we need to have a general discussion about how to go forward with the most success.

If you have a moment, I need to find out who to talk to in each user group and how large the groups are. I recognize that many groups are ad-hocracies so there may not be a figurehead per se, that's okay as long as we have someone on the list who can potentially attend a discussion.

Full disclosure: this isn't a done deal yet. The budget discussions are still ongoing, but having a list of community members willing to support the effort would be a great boon.
