Hey Folks!

I killed the Fifth Meeting.  Common growing pains for a user group include nailing down scheduling and reserving an available location.  I need a coconspirator to help me out, particularly since I travel often for work, and often on short notice.  [SanFran and SanJose this week, Germany the week before, etc...]  I don't want to keep scheduling meetings and then have to cancel last-minute because I'm not in town and no one else has the keys to the building.  So I am killing this month's meeting and starting plans for July's logistics.  I have several months worth of ErlangGames, but I need to get my coconspirator up to speed on facilitating.

I hope all of you are finding opportunities to write Erlang in the mean time, since that leads to happiness.

Thanks!
-Casey

I don't have the time or energy to commit to something like that. Have you considered having fewer meetings? Maybe quarterly-ish, at times that you know you can attend?

Thanks for the note, Matt.  The problem isn't that I am too busy; rather, the problem is that I am sometimes delivered to another town on very short notice.  Having fewer meetings wouldn't address the issue that I am sometimes flown to a far away place less than a week before the meeting.

Fortunately, we have two more engineers from Basho coming online in PDX.  I am confident that we can get that extra facilitator coverage going soon.

Thanks!

How many folks are generally showing up to these meetings?  If it's fewer than 20 or so, I might be able to convince Copious (http://copio.us/) to regularly host these.  I work there, so it would be no problem for me to stick around and let folks in for meetings.

Casey,

Do you have a list of location prospects to work through for a given month?  I'd be willing to help out with that for a while to see how it goes.  I have not yet attended a meeting of this group, but I am optimistic that it will be enlightening.
