Group Information

We have a 35-40 minute meditation - guided or silent depending on the pulse of the group each week. We then have a Dhamma talk or reading and discussion. There is also time to share/discuss practice stuff or other desired topics.

Hello sweet sangha,

Last week we had a lovely discussion about the final factor of the seven factors of liberation, Upekkha and we will continue it this week :) Upekkha is often translated as equanimity or unshakeable liberation, one may think it one has to be indifferent or aloof (the near enemy of Upekkha), but the evenness of mind of Upekkha is inclusive of it all-yet refusing to take the bait of getting whipped around by the vicissitudes/the worldly winds. As we experience the tyranny of this regime, may it be so through our own cultivation and unwavering solidarity with all.

As a reminder, the factors are divided up into three baskets: Neutralizing, Arousing and Calming. The first factor, under the neutralizing bucket, is Sati. Sati is most traditionally translated as mindfulness, but also as awareness, recollection or remembering. Under the arousing heap are the next three: Dhamma Vicaya or investigation of Dhammas or phenomena; Viriya or energy/effort; Piti, often translated as rapture, joy or intense interest. The next three are in the Calming category: Passaddhi or calm/tranquility; Samadhi, most often translated as concentration, one-pointedness of mind or meditative absorption; and finally Upekkha, most often translated as equanimity, stability of mind, or unshakeable freedom.  Really looking forward to seeing those of you who are able to be there tomorrow-much love and solidarity _/\_

We will either go with an open topic or start with this reading about Upekkha

I created a form that people can use any time to offer feedback for the group, and propose topics if you don't feel like doing so during the group. That form is here. I will just leave it open for the foreseeable future.
