Hi Everyone!

I'm a new faculty member in the Computer Science department at the University of Oregon.  I have been lurking on the list for a few months now, and have been meaning to drive up to Portland for a meeting.

I am teaching a graphics class this Spring and have some great students.  But, to my surprise, many of them don't have internships lined up this summer.  And some of the students are from Portland and would be interested in coming home for the Summer.

So: anyone out there looking for good students?

Best,
Hank
(apologies if this email is not in the spirit of the list)

Hank,

No need to apologize. This kind of thing is perfectly appropriate.
Just bear in mind that the internships the students would be likely to
get from people on this list are likely to be more DevOps focused
rather than graphics focused. :)

Hi Jacob,

Sorry about that ... I knew this list is about DevOps and not graphics, and I should have been more clear.  This is my first time teaching, so my exposure to the UO students is through this class.  I am floored by how hard they have worked and how well they have delivered on the projects.

Of our class's 21 students, only about 5 are really excited about video games.  I believe the rest mostly signed up for the course, because I sent an email to the department saying "this is a class that will teach you how to program."  We have a good mix of backgrounds and I think very few are looking for graphics jobs.

Best,
Hank
