etrieve is an Application Service Provider, offering mobile access to email,
calendar and address book information. It is a 24/7 service, with a Sybase
Adaptive Server backend. etrieve desires to have a Consultant available, on
an on-going basis, for the purposes described below.

Essential Responsibilities

The Database Administrator Consultant will perform part-time duties in the
following areas:

- On-call emergency response when etrieve Database Administrator is on
vacation, or otherwise unavailable. This is extremely rare, but a very high
priority.
- Project work (development and administration) in support of the etrieve
Database Administrator.
- Senior database expertise, particularly in Sybase, in support of the
etrieve Database Administrator.


Specific Job Skills:

This position requires:

- Demonstrated proficiency in Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise,
Transact-SQL, PowerDesigner, Sybase Replication Server, and performance
tuning
- Working knowledge of Visual Basic
- Familiarity with UNIX, Shell Scripting, Data Replication, Security
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize
various and changing demands
- Effective problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with a wide variety of professional staff and
customers

Education and / or Experience

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years professional experience designing and developing enterprise
relational databases
