Could you help plan the next meeting?
Pick a date, time, frequency (monthly?) and venue. I can contact
WebTrends after you have these details. We can then announce it to
this group.
There’s enough interest, but not enough time to plan. If you could
help do the aforementioned bit, that’ll be more than enough to get
this group going again.
Interested? Email me: bramp...@gmail.com

This topic seems to sync up very well with the PDX Critique group.
Plus, they also meet on Monday. I’ll forward this message to them and
see what they’d think about doing something together.

Hi Stacey, Ben and Janet,
The Portland Data Visualization user group is, like many other groups
around town, dormant over summer. This afternoon, Joe Meyer posted to
the group, expressing interest in starting it up again.
The subject that he brought up was this:
> I'd like to participate in a discussion of the new and improved
> data.gov site.
>
> I also have some education graphics I would like feedback on.
This, to me, sounds like a topic that could be perfect for PDXCritique.
Combine this with the Monday meeting time that he proposed—
> DataViz, how about Monday, September 7th?
—that makes me think that it might be good to do something together
around it. What do you guys think?
Warmly,
Bram

If there is any chance of this being scheduled for a time other than Wed
or Thu evening, I would certainly appreciate it. But no need to
inconvenience others.
Are the folks on this list familiar with the VizThink webcasts? Some
interesting topics - I highly recommend the one on visual note taking
with Mike Rohde, Sunni Brown and Austin Kleon.

Calagator? Upcoming? Facebook? I'll do a Facebook page and create the
event -- been meaning to do that. Once it's on Upcoming, I can post it
to some LinkedIn groups too.
If I can get it built by then, I'll do a "sonification" of some stock
market data. There are algorithms out there - I just need to track
them down and code them. As you might recall, the period from
September 15 of last year to about 100 days into the Obama Presidency
is rather "interesting". ;-)
