Hello all,
Brief intro - I'm Jeremy, I used to be a partner at Type Foundry but since 2015 I've been mostly mixing using Logic Pro X in the box and doing occasional tracking / overdubs with a multichannel mobile rig.
Since 2021 I've been helping a friend build out a home studio that includes a 32 channel analog console and two UAD Apollo 16s. With access to tons of plugins as well as analog outboard, with 32 analog outs from the DAW, the workflow is naturally leaning toward wanting to take advantage of the best of both worlds.
This is similar to what I did at Type Foundry for many years, but - long story short - I've had so many issues come up while using this DAW-full-of-plugins + patchbay-full-of-gear approach that sometimes I want to massively change it or abandon it altogether.
So here's the crux of my post - if anyone is using a hybrid approach, wants to share some wisdom about how to do it properly in 2023, and wants me to take them out to dinner / trade some studio time / whatever else you can think of that seems like fair compensation (i'm not asking for anyone's time for free) - let me know! I just like the idea of a face to face conversation so much more than digging through and adding to a mountain of forum posts (don't worry, in the meantime I'm doing that, too).
Thanks for reading, folks,
