2nd Annual Portland Day of the Dead Procession
7 p.m. October 29, 2009 (Last Thursday on Alberta)
Meet in the Alberta Co-op parking lot (1500 NE Alberta)
Inspired by el Día de los Muertos, join this community parade in honor of our beloved dead. Bring candles and photos, and wear skeleton masks or makeup if you like. Dancers, drummers, musicians and performers are welcome.
Community Altars
3-11 p.m., Thursday, October 29
Behind the Guardino Gallery at 2939 NE Alberta
Bring photos, mementos, flowers, food, etc., and arrange them in a way that’s meaningful to you. Families, community groups and individuals are welcome to create altars in honor of particular people or groups. Acoustic musicians and other performers can help create an atmosphere of reflection, remembrance, and joyous celebration. Templekeepers and altar artists are needed to prepare the space, tend altars, and clean up.
