Hi Everyone,
I've been wanting to share this little bit of news and just now have time.
My
friend Rebecca Stefoff has adapted many books for young adults,
People's History, Jared Diamond, Lies my Teacher told me, etc. Great
books for young readers who may not be ready for the full book. They
are also great abridged versions for busy adults.
Her
latest book is Darwin's Origin of Species, in a handsome, picture
filled coffee Table book. She asked Alissa and I to
collaborate on 3 of the drawings. We are credited in the back. One of
the main things I worked on was illustrating the way individual cells
form a dodecahexagon (Dad would be so proud) to form the honey comb.
It's an interesting Geometrical shape, and even though I thought I knew
how it worked, I actually had to build models to understand how the
offset worked between the cells. Alissa's whale skeleton is gorgeous!
If you
would like your own copy for your kiddos, or as a gift, here is the
link. It got great reviews in NYT Book Review, and Kirkus.
Enjoy!
Kathleen
