Hey all,
So next Thursday is not only Carfree Happy hour -- it's a rare lecture in town by Gordon Price. And it's free! Info here:

I saw Gordon speak a couple of years ago and he gives a seriously good talk. He's a former politicion and transpo commish from Vancouver BC, and spoke compellingly about what it means that there are ZERO freeways in Le Vanc's city center -- and how we need to start rethinking urban transportation in general. He also made fascinating points (since more than borne out) about how peak oil may cause us less trouble in the near future than peak asphalt -- eg, all our freeways were built around the same time and they thus are all starting to need maintenance at the same time -- just as federal transpo money is running out.
Really smart and inspiring -- I am definitely going to be heading from Floyd's to the Portland Building next Thursday to learn more. Lets make a caravan of it!
