Please send me the names of the students for the mentioned event in an .xls file. Consider this as very urgent and please tell all the IBM selects to participate in this event. Non-participation in this event may effect his/her candidature with IBM.

All such students are required to mandatorily take part in the "Hackathon Contest" for which  there would be briefing session at the campus during 1st or 2nd week of January, 2016 to be followed by the actual event a couple of weeks thereafter.  As per requirement, please send me (by 4th December, 2015)  a final list of such IBM selected students who have accepted the offers and who would be interested in participating in the contest to be sent to the Company.  Please also indicate whether the briefing session could be held on any working day immediately after your ongoing semester examination so that the actual event can take place during early January, 2016.

Dear Prof Sanyal,

In continuation with our connect with future IBMers, we are planning for a Hackathon contest. The details are as below:

Objective

• Give a sneak preview of some of the latest technology to the IBM selected candidates
• Challenge and provide leads on where they may can build their skills before joining the corporate

Outcomes

• Best entries would receive certificates
• Students with best entries also stand a chance for internship / training opportunities / remote mentoring in their 8th semester. This would be finalized taking into account the university guidelines for students in eighth semesters

Eligibility Criteria

• All students selected by IBM in the campus recruitment drive (2016 passing out batch).
• Students should have laptops/desktops with sufficient capacity and network connectivity (in case the lab computers are not available)
• This is a completely optional event, and the outcome of this will NOT have any impact on the selection already made by IBM.

Hackathon Rules

• Duration - start and end
• This is an individual event (no group participation)
• The hackathon will be held in a location in your city. It will be a two day event (9 AM up to closure of lab on both days)
• The students will be given a short training on mobile app development and cloud.
• Hackathon will be conducted to test the students basic skills on mobile app development.
  

Time-line

• Initial kickoff in Dec first week
• Actual hackathon (in end Dec or early Jan)
