The role of PDS in West Bengal

Hi all,

I'm a keen observer of the political war going on, in West Bengal for
last few years. I've always trusted the Lefts with a believe that they
still they have few people in the party who are thinking of taking a
different route to take the Left movement ahead in Bengal.
Unfortunately, they haven't been able to go ahead in a stable &
sustained way. After the fall of Left Government, it's less important
now to discuss, what went wrong. Rather, the political scenario that
is developing now is more important to be followed.

On one hand we have Left party, facing the pollution of
corruption & also an internal conflict over the policy to be followed
in the coming days. A very notable division on this has been observed
in last fey years among CPM & it's allies.

On the other hand, we have Trinamool Congress & Indian
National Congress,who are having a coalition, because of a common &
greater purpose.

But is it going to give us a better future? Well, we'll come to know
this soon. But what if this Goverment fails? What alternative do we
have? Left Government is not a choice for the people of Bengal any
more.

Here, comes the question of an alternative that we
need to think of perhaps. Even in middle of such an unstable political
scenario, I see some Political leaders & parties are coming up with a
firm & honest view which differs from the views of the Left
significantly, but bears the thoght of socialism, that Left movement
once use to carry. I congratulate leaders like Soifuddin Choudhury,
Samir Puttutundu who has shown the courage to go forward against the
traditional views & have come up with a new vision of socialism. I
personally believe that time has come when Parties like PDS , Forward
Bloc should unite to take the task of forming a new policy that Lefts
were lacking for last few years. It's definitely a high time when
these parties should think of increasing their strength by reaching
people & making them understand the alternate view. The task is highly
crucial as it holds the key to the political future of Bangal. The
slogan of Change was required to break the jinx that We have carried
for over three decades. I'm sure this bold decision by people will
show the light of a new dawn. As an individual I firmly believe that
parties like PDS, Forward Bloc will be the harbinger of it. Long live
Socialism!
