Oh man I am sitting here trying to edit the document, and there is too much wrong going on with the editing done so far, so here are some basic rules, that everyone editing MUST follow.
1) This wasn't something we had to do, we were given a choice, even if the alternative was failing the course, so stop writing we HAD TO... that is a big no no.. we didn't have to do anything. Every person who has written a part, go into your document, and fix that. By tomorrow afternoon, there should absolutely no "had to" in the entire report. You were not held at gun point!
2) Everything should be in present tense, there is too much tense switching going on. It needs to stop, so everyone who has written a part, fix that. If it says was or will be, it has to be switched to is. Make sure that is done by tomorrow evening as well.
3) "We, us, they, our" --> these are a big no no. This is a professional document, it must look that way. The only exception sometimes is when you are writing an executive summary, but the document should not include that. None of these processes are our; these processes are for the client, once we design it and they pay us, they will own the process, so instead of our process it should be "the process" or "this process"
4) Nikita I was reading through the introduction and too many filler sentences. You are good at being to the point, lets keep it that way. And things such as determining the municipality we will design it for, yes we had to do that during plant design, but as soon as we chose one, that became an automatic assumption and the proposal we got at the beginning, automatically became a proposal for them. So that should not be something we did but it should be something we already knew since the beginning. We cant tell the client that we chose them. This is not pokemon.
5) Todd emailed back, there were some errors in some numbers, which I am ok with, but grammatical errors, that is unacceptable. We have a chance to fix it. We have a bunch of weak points we need to rectify in the next 24 to 36 hours and they aren't anything significant. Lets take the input he has given us and use that to make this the most robust document. We have spent countless hours researching and making decision, it will all go down the drain if we cant write a good document up.
Team, there are times we dont see eye to eye and I know that, but I want all of us now to put that aside and make this the MOST BEST DAMN FUCKING DOCUMENT they have ever received. Remember we won a prize at the beginning for having the best presentation. I will be gutted if we are still not the best. I want to be the best, but I cant do that alone I want all of you to be in this.
For the next 8 hours I will do as much as i possibly can achieve, and edit the fucking shit out of this document, I am really really sorry if I delete everything you have ever written, but if I don't think it is up to par I will delete it, ofcourse you will be able to track changes. After that I will rest to gain back some sanity. And I expect every one of you to get together and edit and make this flow.
Ok I am done with my rant. But I think I've been quiet for too long, and you needed this!!!
