Q:

I am looking for a PDF library that can help me detect if a PDF file is a Portfolio PDF file or not.

Can I use PDFTron SDK for this?

You can use PDFNet SDK to detect, create, and edit PDF Packages (a.k.a. PDF Portfolios).

As a starting point please take a look at PDFPackage sample:

Q: Thanks for this information.  Like you wrote, PDF package files have been around for a couple years.  The new adobe PDF feature called PDF Portfolios is a little bit different.  We use PDFNet in our application now and so I was hoping perhaps your newest release would support these portfolios.  I heard back from Nuance and several others and they don’t yet support portfolios

As far as we know there is no difference between a PDF package and PDF Portfolio.

'PDF Portfolio' is essentially Adobe’s marketing terms for 'PDF package'.  If you search ISO 32000 (i.e. PDF Spec) for 'Portfolio' you will not find any matches.
