FPDFText_GetCharAngle returns wrong angle when scaling text

Hi
I have two pdfs where I have rotated the text 45 degrees. In one of them the text is scaled horizontally, which changes the matrix and therefore the returned rotation.
How should I calculate the rotation correctly regardless of other transformations?
