Greetings everyone,

I hope you are all doing well as the weather begins to get warmer.

Mayor Bloomberg recently established a Commission to review the NYC Charter.
Community Boards are one of the governmental structures the Commission will be
looking at with an eye to eliminating them in order to save money and
consolidate power at City Hall.

I myself have sought the assistance of my own Community Board office on several
occasions, to resolve issues in my neighborhood. While not immediately life
threatening, over time they could have developed into matters with more serious
health and safety implications. The feedback and assistance I received was much
faster than I would ever have gotten contacting a city agency directly and in
most cases the problem was also resolved in an expeditious manner.

I believe Community Boards are one of the few effective and efficient tools that
actually works and allow ordinary folk like ourselves to to have a say in what
goes on in their neighborhoods with an actual possibility of seeing it get
implemented! That means stuff like support for our endangered communty gardens,
cleaner air and water, etc. All of the things that are important to us permies!

Therefore I would urge you to take a moment to contact the Charter Review
Commission and let them know that the Community Board structure should remain
intact:

Sincerely,

Jill
