Some body posted something about software on this site 5 or 6 weeks ago.
This set me off on a trawl round the web for some sort of job booking
system. We have 5 engineers and they do between 5 and 8 jobs each a day each
and as our booking system is manual we generate a lot of paper work.
The big problem is when some daft customer phones, and says that the
engineer was here about 9 months ago, and wants a under guarantee call back,
the hassle of finding the paper work is a nightmare, usually because it is
more like 18 months and the time taken to trace it back costs more than the
call.
So I looked at about 8 or 10 systems that offer free down loads. Most were
based on nursing home / hospital staff rota systems that could be altered,
and some were utter crap, however one that I looked at was so good I bought
it, It is called Service Manager they offer a free down load of a trial
system, at www.cliksoft.com I could go on to tell you all about it but try
the down load. It will take about 20mins. but its worth it and I thought it
is not too expensive at 400GBP
I phoned them about a couple of alterations that would help us, they said
they would do it in there next update,
so they seam pretty flexible.
By the way just encase anyone thinks I have any sort of deal with them,
fraid not but, mention my name I might be able to cut some sort of a deal.
And, if someone else has this and they find its full of bugs and problems
tell me gently
George
