This huge book, 12 1/4" x 9 1/4" and 1" thick, is called
"AMERICAN NEEDLEWORK, THE HISTORY OF
DECORATIVE STITCHERY AND EMBROIDERY
FROM THE LATE 16th TO THE 20th CENTURY.
Author is Georgiana Brown Harbeson. Copyright 1938.
This edition is not dated, but inscribed by the previous
owner in 1964. It discusses all aspects of American
needlework; from American Indian porcupine quill
embroidery and bead needlework, to early American
colonial samplers, to needlepoint pictures and upholstery, etc.
Many black and white illustrations, and a section of color
plates. Great book for anyone interested in the sewing
arts....also makes a WONDERFUL needle arts reference

Just thought I'd comment: I don't need this book as it is already on my
shelf- and it is wonderful! A great thing to sit with on a cold
afternoon with a hot tea- makes you feel a part of history with your
art.
