The artist is Henry Housier, who was born in Lyon, France in 1905. He
attended a local painting school and later the Academy of Fine Arts in
Paris. He travelled frequently to Italy and Holland where he further
developed his artistic career. His Parisian street scenes are very
famous. However, he often masters in perfect abstract Upper-Italian
lake scenes and flower still-life. His paintings may be seen in many
exhibitions in Rome, Paris, and Vienna.
The artist's signature appears in the lower left hand corner of the
painting.
The painting was purchased by my parents circa 1958-60. I do not recall
the price that they paid for it at that time. It is approximately 40-45
years old. It is in mint condition except for a small chip that has
fallen off one of the "trees at the center of the tree" (marked in a
circle on the photograph). The missing piece of painting from the tree
is barely noticeable because you can see the mountains behind it, and
it is the same color as the mountains (or sky).
