The film had its world premiere at the 70th San Sebastián International Film Festival. It earned six nominations at the 37th Goya Awards, including Best Leading Actress (Lennie) and Adapted Screenplay.

Rubén Romero Santos of Cinemanía rated the film 3 out of 5 stars, deeming it to be "a thrilling and elegant" exercise of narrative shell gaming.[21] Beatriz Martínez of El Periódico de Catalunya rated the film 4 out of 5 stars, considering that "the intrigue finds a perfect balance between stylization and magnetism", also praising the "titanic" adaptation work, "in which not only the language is cleaned and distilled", "but also the stale substratum from the novel".[22] Raquel Hernández Luján of HobbyConsolas rated the film with 50 out of 100 points ("so-so"), considering that it fails at respecting the heart of the novel (the dignification of the mentally ill and the value put on the work of the staff), praising the art direction and costume design while negatively assessing the direction of actors and the overextended footage achieved by a number of consecutive closures.[23] Juan Pando of Fotogramas rated the film 3 out of 5 stars, considering that it is "the kind of film that attracts viewers to the theaters and does not disappoint them", while noting that its footage could have been trimmed and its outcome simplified.[24]

A combination of runtime and what felt like rushed character motivations to progress the plot is what holds back this film. Shaving off several minutes could arguably still deliver the same outcome. I found myself beginning to feel like Alice; held up at the psychiatric hospital for longer than I needed to be and I wanted out. Maybe that is part of the intention though, for the viewer to feel that mental strain.

The film follows Alice Gould, a private investigator who enters a psychiatric hospital by simulating paranoia to solve a crime. But a big turn of events will question her sanity and whether she is really telling the truth. The cast includes Bárbara Lennie (Magical Girl, The Mess You Leave Behind) and Eduard Fernández (Everybody Knows, El Niño).

Marshall Shaffer is a New York-based freelance film journalist. In addition to Decider, his work has also appeared on Slashfilm, Slant, Little White Lies and many other outlets. Some day soon, everyone will realize how right he is about Spring Breakers.

The film is centered in a single location, and that would be the psychiatric ward where Alice is admitted. While there, she eventually encounters various other characters and events that assist her in unearthing various secrets. However, the actual filming took place in two locations, Barcelona and Tarragona, both of which are provinces of Spain.

The movie employs various symbolic elements to convey deeper meanings. The crooked lines mentioned in the title represent the unpredictable nature of life, highlighting how our destinies can deviate from the expected path. This symbolism is prevalent throughout the film, reflecting the chaos and unpredictability of existence.

This movie showcases innovative filmmaking techniques, leaving an indelible mark on the minds of viewers. The director artfully employs non-linear storytelling, juxtaposing scenes from different timelines to create a sense of disorientation and intrigue. The use of vibrant colors, hauntingly beautiful cinematography, and a captivating musical score adds to the overall immersive experience.

After studying acting with the late Geraldine Page, Harry O'Reilly has been acting for film and television since 1986. He has appeared in films such as Hamburger Hill, Reality Bites, The Cable Guy, One True Thing, Pants on Fire, and most recently The Opponent. Television credits include series regular roles in the award winning Homefront, Hotel Malibu (with Jennifer Lopez), and The Ben Stiller Comedy Show. Crooked Lines is Harry's feature debut. He directed the film shorts (where he insists he showed flashes of brilliance) Flowers for Lilly and The Drop. His upcoming feature, St. Anthony's Bones, written by Colin Quinn, is currently in development with Presto Films.

Some of the key locations featured in the film include the mental institution itself, which was filmed at the Parc Sanitari Pere Virgili in Barcelona, and the city of Girona, where several exterior scenes were shot.

Veteran Spanish director Uribe (Running Out Of Time) is behind this thriller based on true events: the assassination of six Jesuit priests and two women (a cook and her teenage daughter), who were shot at their lodgings at the Central American University in El Salvador in 1989. One of the priests murdered was Ignacio Ellacuria (played by Karra Elejalde), rector of the university and advocate for the cause of Liberation Theology. The film focuses on Lucia (Juana Acosta), a key witness to the murders who knows who is responsible for the deaths: the Salvadorean army, despite official attempts to make it look like the work of the guerrillas. Her testimony reveals the truth, but also changes her life. Contact: Latido Films

My Pixma MX922, now more than 2 years old has very poor print quaity. I've run alignments and cleanings but it still prints with very wavy lines (vertical and horizontal) and characters have faint shadows like a double impression. How can I fix?

You can try cleaning the encoder film of the printer by following the steps located here to see if this will help. If you still experience difficulty, we ask that you please contact a Canon technical support representative for further assistance by entering your product name and selecting a support method here. A representative will be happy to assist you free of charge.

This did improve the situation but I was not able to completely restore clear crisp printing. I cleaned the encoder film several times as described though I didn;t really see any noticeable grease on it. I also did multiple print head alignments and nozzle cleanings. My printer is 3 years old; so I'll just replace it.

If head cleaning and head alignment do not solve the problem then I strongly suspect that the black nozzles are heat damaged. I have seen this problem with the Pixma 7250 a few times. Heat damaged black noxzzes typically print in a bow pattern and the print looks fuzzy and not sharp. Vertical lines look misaligned.

Very well done! The question throughout the movie is whether she is absolutely sane and telling the whole truth, or whether she is suffering from a mental disorder, and sucking everyone in.

Synopsis:The film is centered around Alice Gould de Almenara, a ravishingly beautiful and extremely intelligent woman who enters a mental asylum situated in Spain to uncover the mysterious death of an inmate. She is a private investigator and was contacted by the deceased's father to examine the case.

The movie starts with a bird's-view of a mountainous landscape. A car drives down a road. We know our heroine is going to be alone in this journey.

Alice is a private detective set to investigate the events that lead to the death of the son of her client. Her client does not agree with the final report: suicide. She decides to enter sanatorium where her client's son was institutionalized to conduct her investigations on the source. Once there, who can judge sanity over insanity?

The plot follow two storylines: we see Alice's perspective and investigation, and then we shift into a breakout event that led to the death of one of the sanatorium's patients. The story keeps us hooked until the very end, a great who-and-whydunit story that leaves us guessing until the very end.

The ending is good too, although people who read the book where screenwriters based this movie's story on can argue which ending is the best. I personally think both takes are good.

For a mystery story, it's possible to defend that the movie is too long, dragging a bit. I feel that this is not true; the movie is long, but the story is good. I don't mind being hooked for over 2 hours if the story is good.

At the end, I felt rewarded: the movie delivered. One could debate that there are some really messed up stuff that happens, and that the police seems a bit lost in this whole mess, but you need to remember this story happens in 1979.

If you are a fan of mystery dramas and don't mind the time spent on this movie, God's Crooked Lines is recommendable.
