Barbara Buono could be a great candidate or a dismal disappointment and this test can influence her direction. Christie's Democratic cheerleaders and most insiders do not give New Jersey voters much credit, but we should win a decisive victory in 2013... but our nominees have to prove worthy of support.

I would like to recruit a lot of real progressive candidates to mount primary challenges among Democratic incumbents because the lack of competitive legislative districts leaves power brokers and establishment insiders in charge of the nominating process. There has to be a grass roots push to take back the Democratic Party from the crooks and cowards and this kind of pressure is the only way to do that effectively.

The public is invited to a free community presentation “Organizing for Nonviolent Social Change” by civil rights pioneer Dr. Bernard LaFayette Jr. sponsored by Occupy Trenton.

 

Dr. Bernard LaFayette Jr. a Civil Rights activist, minister, educator, lecturer, and an authority on the strategy of nonviolent social change.

 

·        co-founded the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in 1960

·        was a leader of the 1960 Nashville Movement; the Freedom Rides of 1961 and the Selma Movement.

·        directed the Alabama Voter Registration Project in 1962,

·        was appointed National Program Administrator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC)

·        and National Coordinator of the 1968 Poor Peoples’ campaign by Martin Luther King, Jr.

 

Dr Bernard Lafayette, Jr. [1] will be in Trenton for two days to speak about implementing Kingian Nonviolence Education in the Trenton community.

 

Kingian Nonviolence is a philosophy and methodology that provides the knowledge, skills, and motivation necessary for people to pursue peaceful strategies for solving personal and community problems.

 

Day One will be at the Trenton Friends Meeting House at the corner of Hanover and Montgomery in Trenton

 

Day Two will be at the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) on South Broad Street
