Some of my earliest and happiest memories came from the day trips our family made to the Jersey shore where my dad taught me how to body surf the ocean waves.

In 1970, I turned eleven years old.  It also happened to be the year of the first Earth Day and the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency.  In 1972, the Clean Water Act was established. As my environmental awareness increased, I started to hear news about saving the Chesapeake Bay even though I didn’t really know where that was and what it needed saving from. The experiences of my childhood cemented my passion for the environment and inspired me to acquire a Master’s degree in Environmental Science.

Flash forward to 2017, I retired and had time to give back to my new Annapolis community. I found the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay non-profit organization.  The mission of this organization, established 54 years ago, is to restore the lands and waters of the Chesapeake Bay watershed while using collaborative, on-the-ground solutions to achieve healthier lands and cleaner water. I was attracted to the organizations’ action-oriented approach and became a full believer of their focus on the land to prevent pollution from entering our waterways.

I fully believe in and support the mission of the Alliance with my time, skills, and my wallet so that my kids, grandkids, and others in the community will be able to fully enjoy our Chesapeake Bay Watershed lands and waters.

If you believe in this mission, I urge you to learn more about the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and consider making a donation to support this wonderful organization.
