sound driver (code 10)

I'm having  trouble with with a sound driver on a computer that i've just got. don't know the modal of the computer i got it second hand with no brand on the case. the only thing i can think as far as a modal is that it might be a sony but not interlay sure. the driver is giving me a  code 10. the os is xp. when i look in the computer case nothing looks damaged. i think i have the right driver but still have that code. any help would be nice.
