This is mostly to relay what was posted today in our Facebook group:
Some of you may know about Pensacon 2014 which is coming up next February. I was asked if I knew anyone that might be interested in creating a LAN party at the event... Maybe PLUG members can get something together? They need computers, networking equipment, and the know-how, etc. They will be providing the space, the power, and weekend con passes to the individuals/group that puts it together as well as prizes to games or tournaments held. Yeah, you get in for free and you meet celebs 'n shit. Anyone interested?

Please respond there or here so we can plan & answer them.

I'd be in to provide a warm body, I could even run some game servers or just play...  I don't have much networking kit anymore, but I can bring a few sundry items that I might have lying around.

I've got a few 48 port managed ciscos. A few servers and some other gear to throw at it. Possibly could get some loaner equipment if needed.

That's excellent!

I've been doing some research into making this a success.  We'll want a few games running concurrently, Team Fortress 2 still seems to be popular as a shooter, we should find some other genre games, too.  Strategy, Racing, and the like.

A minecraft server could be semi popular.

We could keep tournament stats up, and even live views in to games with a projector.  There is already some decent looking LAN management software that exists.

The con is providing the space and power.  Hopefully this includes tables and chairs as well.  We should have an area roped off with only one way in/out - unfortunately some people in the world have sticky fingers.

We might want a photographer, if there isn't one already present from the con.

Anything I'm missing?
