Hello all,

You may have gotten an email from Right to the City asking you to participate in the Rise Up Against Displacement campaign.

If you did, my apologies for reposting and please feel free to do what you have to do.

Personally, I am a single mom, and I pay over 1300 for a one bedroom in NYC. I pay close to 45% of my salary to RENT. I imagine some of you, if you calculated it, would be in the same position. This makes it hard, to live paycheck to paycheck, while also trying to raise awareness about housing being owned equitably, and fighting for rent laws that actually protect tenants from HUGE  increases, and warning tenants of acts that landlords take to push people out of their homes.

Please help make this work possible. Donate 5, 10, 15 or 100. What you can. And let's get this going!

Every dollar donated up to $3K will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous matching pledge! This is a really great opportunity to double your impact!

Right To The City (www.righttothecity.org) is the only national alliance of anti-gentrification organizations around the country. With the money raised, RTC will take our Renter Nation report on the road, and organize "Renter Nation Assemblies" bringing together hundreds of cost burdened renters across the country to organize around renters' rights policies that will help millions of low-income renters beat back displacement.

By giving today, you will make the following possible:

  • RTC will organize Renter Nation Assemblies in at least 20 cities, including Los Angeles, Boston, and San Francisco this spring. Each assembly will gather hundreds of impacted renters to build unity, tell their stories, and work together to pass policy solutions like Renters' Bill of Rights legislation in their city.
  • RTC will use their new Rise of the Renter Nation Political Education Curriculum to train and develop 100 member leaders as community experts on housing policies that will provide dignified, quality, and truly affordable housing in their citie

Thank you for your love and generosity, and for supporting me in this work!

Lenina

Ps. I have 5 days to reach my goal so I apologize in advance for sending a lot of email regarding this campaign over these next few days, but it will be over soon! And if you donate, I promise to stop emailing you  :)

Pps. If you are not part of an organization already involved in the renter nation assemblies, and you think you would be interested in participating in a renter assembly in your city, please click here: http://bit.ly/1yixkps
