With the latest post on the front page of MyPCLinuxOS.com, this group,
I think you all may see an influx of people with questions on how to
get started with the group and in Pootle. So, as preventative
measures, I think it would be wise to post a google group page that
details how people new to the group can getstarted...things like
registering with pootle, registering with SVN, etc.

Anyway, just a suggestion.

Good idea, I'll try to put something together.

OK, here it is.
Please review the text and help me to polish it, correct any mistakes and
suggest adding important information neglected by me.

I think our central address http://www.ipclinuxos.com should contain something
like this:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to PCLinuxOS localization center

This site should serve as an central point for PCLinuxOS localization and
internationalization.
It's still work in progress so please be patient.

To make things clear: although we are the only official PCLinuxOS i18n project,
we are not part of The Ripper Gang and we don't have enough power to push every
translation update to mainstream PCLinuxOS repositories.
On the other hand, we are recognized as the only translation source for
PCLinuxOS (apart from upstream) and we are working hard on finding a way how to
seamlessly add our translations to official repositories. We maintain our own
testing repository and are able to test our work before it joins the official
repositories.

If you want to help us with localizing PCLinuxOS to your language there is an
easy way. Our new translation portal (Pootle) is here at your service -
http://l10n.ipclinuxos.com. You are free to suggest translations - no
registration is needed. But if really want to be part of our team, don't
hesitate and register your own account on
http://l10n.ipclinuxos.com/register.html . Then, you'll be able to directly
translate messages, download .mo files (compiled translations), view other's
suggestions and more.
Don't forget to join our user group/mailing list
http://groups.google.com/group/pclinuxos-i18n - here you can ask questions,
discuss technical details, troubleshoot problems, ask for translation commit to
SVN and share your opinions and experiences.

Should you need any help with the Pootle interface or with translating in
general see
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/index#guides or feel free to ask on
our mailing list.

The project list presented in Pootle is not final, we can add any translation
project to it upon your suggestion.
