Hey everyone, just a short update before Willie's next post!

I made a run to Smart N Final today for snacks for the ride (see photo). Willie will have the fixings for sandwiches, more snacks, soft drinks, and we will both have loads of water, of course!

If there is something you want but don't see, please don't hesitate to bring a lunch bag or small cooler with your food. Be sure to leave it in Willie's truck unless you are super fast!

After Greg K and I leap frog with Willie's truck in the morning, we will be driving the front SAG and most folks won't see us often enough for food.

If you are super fast and plan on finishing in fewer than 15 hours, please feel free to put your hotel drop bag in our SAG van as well so you are not waiting around for your bag in Las Vegas!

It looks like it may rain in the am, but clear relatively early in the morning, so don't forget to pack your raincoat and warmies! You can dump them in Willie's truck if you don't need them.

If you have an extra bed in Joshua Tree Friday night for Willie, please email me off list. Willie is now planning on coming out Friday night since no one needs a ride to JT on Saturday morning and he can split the room charge with you.

NEW - Please share your Google Maps location with me at: stacy...@gmail.com
I will share my location back to you during the ride, too. It is comforting to know where our riders are on the route, even if cell phone coverage is spotty, since Google Maps will update your location at several points along the route. Willie uses a satellite positioning device and you may share your GPS device with him as well.

Willie has loads to do on Friday, getting the truck, supplies, roof racks, and the bike trailer ready for the big event so THANK YOU WILLIE in advance, you rock!  🙌🚵💕

Best,

Stacy & Greg

Just FYI, a few folks have asked how to share their location on Google Maps...yay, Elizabeth for being the first to share her location!

You can only share your location from a smart phone that has the Google Maps app installed (Android or Apple, it's much the same) and is logged in to your Google account on the phone.

It's quite easy and you can limit the time of sharing or just turn off sharing when you are done.
  1. Open Google Maps
  2. Click on your icon (it's on the top right of the screen)
  3. Click Location Sharing
  4. Click the blue +person icon on the top right of the screen
  5. Find your friends or add an email address of the person you want to share your location with!
  6. You can also send a link to your location via SMS, Hangouts, email and other apps
Feel free to share your location with me if you would like the comfort of knowing someone is keeping an eye on you on the route!

Definitely plan on rain on Saturday at some point, but it looks like we may be in for an awesome tailwind!

Hi Stacy,

At the Finish (before Willie arrives), will we find your vehicle at the location indicated on the cue sheet, i.e.: SW corner of intersection of Volunteer Blvd and the Driveway into the M Resort?

(Not so easy to rendezvous after dark within the M Resort parking lot, which is sprawling and busy.) Roger.

Hi Roger!

Greg and I will be staying at the M Hotel. We will be off the course around 6pm which I imagine is the earliest someone will finish this course. We will not leave the M Hotel so we should be easy to contact!

We will leave the few drop bags we have in the luggage room of the M Hotel. The only riders who should give us their bags are the 12-14 hour finish time folks. :)

Most people should keep their drop bags in Willie's truck in case they need warm gear or extra supplies for the final 50 miles into Vegas which will get very cold and windy. I keep checking the weather, and it looks like the rain is going to be very light and sporadic, yay!

Willie will email everyone my cell number so you may call me when you finish, but if you can't find someone at the finish, just get a receipt at the front desk for proof of your finish time!

Have a wonderful ride!
