I currently ride a B-17 Imperial saddle but am thinking of trying out
something new. The problem I am running in to with it is I constantly
slide forward on the saddle and end up riding the nose. I have tried
to combat this by tilting the nose up a bit, but that only results in
numbness. I am thinking if it probably a function of the saddle, as
brooks do have that little hump in the middle.
That said, I am thinking of trying either the Selle An-Atomica or the
Selle San Marco Rolls. The A-A is too expensive to just "try out", so
I thought I would fish for some opinions first. It looks as though it
is low slung in the middle of the saddle, which might combat my
perpetual forward motion (on the saddle, not the road). I know the San
Marco is also popular for longer rides. How do these choices compare
to the B-17? Is the San Marco worth trying?

Thanks!

Marcus,

If I didn't meet Selle An-Anatomica, I gave up randonneuring.
Actually, I have never ride Brooks and SMR; Still I strongly recommend
it. I felt no crotch pain after riding 400k,600k,1000k and 1200k. A-A
helps me a lot! It liberates me from pathetic randonneuring.

However, If I need to tell complaints about it, I'll state weight and
durability. But then, It's not big problem, because, Brooks is not
light-weight and Sella A-A also has adjustment bolt.

Anyway, Selle An-Anatomica is awesome. I enjoy ride with it :-)

I agree with Jun....love my Selle An-Anatomica. Greg, who is a long time
Brooks saddle user, also likes his Selle An-Atomica....says it has a faster
break in. I put mine on my bike and rode a 400K that day.

Another fan of the Selle An-Atomica here.
I've tried various Brooks including the Imperial which never felt
right to me.
I have tried the SM Rolls and Regals and though I thought they looked
great they
were typical of most plastic shelled saddles, uncomfortable over any
distance.
Though my longest riding experience is just one 200k to date, the
saddle area was not an issue.

I had an early version of the Selle AA which was not the Watershed
model and it wasn't as
comfortable as the LD Watershed I have now. In fact, the LD Watershed
version seems like
a different saddle altogether in a good way. Recently rode 75 miles
in the rain and the saddle
held up and recovered nicely. No misshaping and, yes, it's a much
faster break in than a Brooks plus
it has the longer rail for easier adjustment.

It's expensive, but I'm glad to have it on the bike. Also, I ride the
Clydesdale version since I'm
200 pounds. The clyde version uses more leather which is a good thing
in this application.

Hope this helps.

Rod
