"for women of color, led by women of color, about women of color"
The mission of New Voices Pittsburgh is to engage women of color 12-35 with the Reproductive Justice Movement and framework by (1) mobilizing for systemic change through political action and public and (2) developing new voices for leadership in Pittsburgh.
Reproductive Justice is the complete physical, mental, spiritual, political, economic, environmental and social well-being of women and girls, and will be achieved when women and girls have the economic, social and political power and resources to make healthy decisions about our bodies, sexuality and reproduction for ourselves, our families and our communities in all areas of our lives.
Every woman has the right to (1) decide if and when she will have children and the conditions of giving birth; (2) the right to decide not to have children and to have real options for preventing or ending pregnancy; and (3) parent the children she already has with the necessary social supports, safe and healthy environments and without the fear of individual or state violence.
