Could we get some discussion maybe leading to a consensus on what
equipment we would recommend to TechShop management regarding
equipment or facilities to support PCB making or general electronics
development? For instance, I'd be interested in some automated
milling/drilling equipment for PCB boards or even codification of
procedures for photosensitizing, exposing, etching and reflow.

Does anyone know how to send a gerber file to the laser cutter to make
stencils?

TechShop has a PCB milling machine (don't know when it was last used,
don't know who was curating it). The machine sits at Lynne's office.
May be we can bring it back online.

It would be nice if TechShop had a couple of good soldering irons
(e.g. Weller WESD51) and a lamp with magnifier.

What about a small desktop wave soldering setup?

Something like:
https://www.manncorp.com/wave-solder/auto-dip-lead-free-soldering-system/index.php?auto=done
or
http://www.stencilsunlimited.com/product_info.php?products_id=153

And while we're asking - about about a small reflow setup that's
better than the toaster oven in the paint room?

Tell me how TechShop can "justify" the $6400 cost of just the re-flow
oven plus the $1500 cost of the Gold Wave soldering setup? What's the
business case for this? I'll "pitch" anything with a good business
case! What's the ROI?

THANKS!
Lynne.

I'm currently working on getting 1-2 WESD51s and lamp/magnifiers and
getting a separate room set up as an Electronics Room. Look for this
the first of the year.

The PCB machine (Quick Circuit 5000 from T-Tech.com) is actually in
the Desktop CNC room, but, it's missing an essential cable that
they're being difficult about getting us a pricing on it. The software
to cut PCB's is already on the computer in there now.

I'll work with Nick to get the cable situation settled and then you
can spend any time you want figuring this out.

Having a PCB milling machine available would be terrific. Add me to
the list of folks interested in hearing when it's up and running.
