Thanks for all,

PxWebApi is now working on my setup. How can I integrate the data from my PxWebSite (https://databank.dos.gov.jo/Databank/pxweb/en/) into PxWebApi, including both .PX files and the database?

Best regards,
Hussam

I have PxWebApi running successfully, and I would like to understand the difference between PxWebApi and the standard PxWeb API on the PxWeb site. Could you explain how they differ in functionality, data access, and usage?

Hi Hussam!

The PxWebApi 2.0 is a web base API to your data. You can "view" the data programatically through the API.
PxWeb 2.0 is the user interface where a user can see and select data. PxWeb 2.0 uses the API for all its data needs. That is it "talks" to the API to get the data and the displays it in a graphical form for the end user.

Prio 2.0 the API and the user interface was a single application. There where some down sides having this single big application that we solve with splitting them up.

Hope that this gives you an idea what the differences are.

Kind regards
Petros

Hi,

My 10c

-The old PxWeb classic has everything integrated in one lump, user interface and the API V1.
-The new PxWeb separated the PxWebAPI v2 and the user interface PxWeb 2.0
-The new PxWebAPI V2 supports only ONE database per PxWebAPI instance.
The old PxWeb classic supported hundreds of databases.
PxWeb - Select database
-The new 2.0 PxWeb user interface only supports one database, at the moment.
-It is impossible to use the same PX-file database as source for PxWeb classic and PxWebAPI v2
because the menu.xml the database.config and the /index are different in PxWebAPI V2.
The solution would have been to name the new menu2.xml, database2.config and /index2 in the database.

You in Jordan and we In Finland are using two databases and HTTP links in the databases to link them as one database!
I think there is no way anymore to link TWO or more databases to work like one database in the current new PxWeb 2.0
In your database you have a link (link file) in the database (last subject area) from a File based (.px) to a SQL based  px-database and it works.
PxWeb - Select database

We use these links to jump between StatFIn (updated timeseries) and StatFin Archive (ended timeseries) database.
It is always the last link in the directory. Both databases are huge! So, you can seamlessly change between these two databases.
PxWeb - Select table

Our problems at the moment
New PxWeb 2.0 supports only ONE database per instance and the new user interface supports only ONE database!
So now we need close to 60 instances of PxWebAPI and the same amount of PxWeb 2.0 userinterfaces.
and inks between databases don’t work anymore.
For our chargeable databases there is no way to control the access at the moment in PxWebAPI V2. We are using our OLD PxGateKeeper solution for our chargeable databases at the moment.
PxWeb - Valitse tietokanta
Only in Finnish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can see the future problem we have in the future with the multitude of chargeable databases …

Remember that you must support the PxWeb classic V1 API for a year or more for the customers to be able to move to the PxWebAPI V2 in a controlled way.

Some of these problems can be fixed, but when and by whom?

Please correct me if I am wrong …

Hans
