Dear PBSCU community,

I have got my admission to the University of Sherbrooke in a research-type master's program with FULL funding including tuition fees and living expenses for Fall 2023. For my visa application, I wanted to show an additional fund from my country. However,  instead of showing my father if I take the sponsorship from my uncle, will it be any issue (or, will it rise any question that could lead the visa officer to further scrutiny)?

I would be grateful to get your valuable responses.

Thanks,
Abu Ubaida Akash

Hello,

Thanks for your question. You should not show anyone else's fund rather than your blood relative's (e.g., parents, siblings, or grandparents). If you are showing your uncle's funds then you should have legitimate reason that is convincing enough for the visa officer to proceed with your application.
We do not recommend showing anyone else's funds.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your suggestion! I will show my father as my sponsor, but till now he doesn’t have any legitimate document that can show his income source although he has a strong bank statement (big amount transactions and well balanced). Also he has no tax related documents. So, if I can prepare a valid trade license, will that be enough as a proof of the source of the transactions mentioned in the bank statement? Additionally a TIN certificate can also be managed. What's your evaluation in this case?

Thanks again,
Abu Ubaida

If you are thinking about preparing a trade license for the purpose of the visa, I'm not sure how you are going to show that the income has came from this source. If you can provide a supporting letter that explains the income source explicitly then you should be good to go. Tax papers are optional if you can show valid and solid source of income.

Thanks for your time!
Update: My father holds a dealership business of L.P.G. He started this business on June 16, 2021 but didn’t prepare the trade license at that time. Now we have the licence in hand, issued on 3rd May this year. We also collected our last two years tax clearance certificate recently. He maintained two savings accounts for his business transactions which shows that during the 4.5 months it was never less than 20 lakh BDT collectively. I can provide the appointment letter from the company, my father distribute the products of. I want to mention 10 lakh BDT in the financial affidavit from my father for my study.
  • What else documents can be provided to prove the source of our bank balance?
  • Should I explain why the trade license has been issued this month since the this date is mentioned in the license?
  • Should I explain why my father used his savings accounts instead of a business account?
Thanks again for the support you are providing!!
