ispc vs GPU

Hi

There is exercise to change gpu for ispc at the end of GPU chapter. 

Question is: Is it worth doing ? In other words it there a hope for cpu rendering or this is thing of past and noone will buy cpu even i9 because it is so slow :) ?

In case of ispc renderer we have only speedup of 4 so not so much ;(
