Hi,

A friend recently lost his home and moved out of the country.  He gave me his 2 year old female pitbull. She is a great dog.  I dont want her to have puppies but I cant afford to fix her.  Would  you please help me find a nearby place that will do it for free?  Thanks.

Thank you for contacting PBRC!

The County has a program, Animal Sterilization Assistance Program (ASAP), and offers $50 vouchers towards spay/neuter surgery. Please review the following and call to find out if funding is available for an ASAP voucher...

For FY09/10, $150,000 has been allocated by the Board of Supervisors. A portion (1/3) has been earmarked for a special project to alter pit bulls/pit bull mixes.

How to request a voucher
Call the toll free ASAP phone number 1-888-664-5166. You will need to leave your name, address, phone number, type of animal(s), name of animal(s), age, gender and breed of animal.

Anyone who fills out a PBRC spay/neuter application can receive assistance, as long as the request fits within our guidelines and the applicant completes our process.  In most cases, PBRC will fund the lowest cost spay/neuter option available to the applicant.

PBRC's Spay/Neuter Fund application link is: http://www.pbrc.net/fund/ap_neuter.html

We look forward to working with you!
