Hello,
After careful consideration, we’re making a change to AHS Veterinary Center’s microchip service. Here’s what you need to know:
What’s changing
Beginning February 1, AHS veterinary Center will no longer register animals as part of the microchip service. Instead, we’ll provide you with the microchip information after implantation and refer pet owners and rescues to helpful resources like FoundAnimals.org to perform the initial registration themselves. Michelson Found Animals is an intuitive, non-profit web service that will allow our clients to register their new microchip and update their contact information in the future — and it’s free to use.
Why we’re making this change
When we perform the initial registration for our clients, we find that they’re more likely to forget to update it when their info changes. The unintended consequence is that even though the animals are microchipped, the contact info isn’t up-to-date, which makes it difficult to connect lost animals with their families.
We’ll still continue to provide this important product at a reduced price, but by empowering our clients to register their new microchip directly, we hope it will lead to better outcomes for lost pets in our community.
Please let me know if you have any questions Thank you,
