Safe Streets for All 2026

Share your thoughts about road safety in one of three key areas today!

This survey is being conducted as part of the Safe Streets for All demonstration project, which is a collaboration between the Greater Portland Council of Governments and the cities of Portland, Saco and Scarborough. Each city will install temporary road safety improvements in one key area to test functionality and gather public feedback before permanent changes are considered. The key areas are:

  • Portland: Commercial St from Dana St to Franklin St.
  • Saco: Main St from Water St to Cutts Ave
  • Scarborough: Rte 1 from Hannaford Dr to Little Dolphin Dr

These projects may include temporary traffic calming measures, pedestrian safety improvements, and roadway design adjustments meant to improve safety and accessibility for all users. We're gathering community sentiment about the existing conditions before the installations are put in place, so please take this survey before it closes on June 19.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about what's working and what needs work in three key roadways in Portland, Saco and Scarborough.

Come say hi to one of our friendly outreach staff members at an informational pop-up event!

We'll be holding a pop-up booth in each of the three participating cities in the coming weeks to give community members an opportunity to ask questions, learn more, and provide feedback on the proposed safety improvements. Come say hi at one of the following pop-ups:

  • Saco: June 4, 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in front of City Hall, 300 Main Street

  • Portland: June 5, 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Bell Buoy Park at the corner of Commercial St. and Franklin St.

Check out this podcast episode about the 2025 installations
