Hi folks,
We're holding an October PBPAC meeting after all!

It will be on Monday, October 27th at 7 PM.

The Zoom link will be the usual: https://maine.zoom.us/j/82362843383

We'll be voting on some Bylaw amendments, and then holding officer elections (if we can achieve a quorum: this would be a good meeting to attend!)

Please consider giving it a try and serving as PBPAC co-chair or secretary in 2025-2026!  Lets not drop this work!

Cities with bike ped committees are generally able to make better progress towards safe streets than those without.  The city or Portland should have an official bike ped committee with staff support; however, that looks unlikely, at least for now, thus, we've got to do it ourselves.

Hopefully the new bylaw amendments, co-chairs and district leaders, will make for an easier workload for executive committee members, allowing us to accomplish even more work, with better representation of the whole of Portland, and with less burnout- but that is up to all of you!

District leaders: if the proposed amendments pass, the co-chairs & secretary will appoint 5 District leaders- the application process will be up to that team, so, if that sounds exciting, consider running for co-chair or Secretary :).   If you're hoping to be a District leader, check out the bylaw amendments, offer any suggestions you might have, and show up on Monday the 27th to vote for them!

I won't be able to make it tonight, but hopefully you can all get along without me :).

I hope that however the executive committee shakes out after the election we can do a better job of holding regular meetings, and giving sufficient notice for them- definitely consider running for a vice chair or co-chair* if you are excited about helping to ensure that we hold regular and well noticed meetings, which I think really helps with participation!

While I'm not running for anything, I will continue to be available to help out, possibly still in some form of past chair official capacity depending on how elections go.

I added Tukey's bridge and Gorham's corner to the agenda, though I'm not sure there's much to say about Gorham's corner; obviously, that's just meddling and they don't have to be talked about.

* Vice Chair or CoChair would essentially be the same role, just depends on bylaw amendments passing, in my opinion co-chair makes the responsibilities more clear, but I leave that up to you all
