Hello again, friends and neighbors!

I'm super excited to be hosting author, journalist, and host of The War on Cars podcast Sarah Goodyear for a lively community discussion based on her new book, Life After Cars.

Due to overwhelming interest, we've switched venues, and the event will now be held at Orange Bike Brewing, located at 31 Diamond Street in Portland! Our Friends from Back Cove Books will be on hand with copies of the book for purchase and signing.

The book chat will still start at 7:00 PM, but you are invited to gather at Orange Bike at 6:15pm for a bike ride around the Back Cove to kick off the evening with Portland Bike Party!

This event couldn't come at a more auspicious time. We've had another hard couple of weeks in the city, with multiple people hit and nearly killed in crashes, including a child walking to school. Another friend sent me a photo of a vehicle flipped on its side at Marginal and Franklin Street, which should not even be possible in an urban environment. We should not have to live this way.

And, exactly one week later, the city of Portland will begin its planning process for transportation for the next 30 years. It's high time to start thinking of what Portland could be like if we put people first. I hope that we can agree that Portland's best future would be realized only if we spend the next decades years making this place the most walkable and bikeable small city in America. We hope you'll come out of Thursday's event, ready for ideas to share at the June 11 open house on transportation from 4-6pm at the Portland Library,.

I hope to see many of you this Thursday, and the one that follows!

Cheers,
Myles
