Speak up for safe streets TONIGHT - City Sustainability and Transportation Committee on Zoom

The transportation committee will be meeting today at 5pm (via zoom). It is a good opportunity to express concerns over vehicle speeds. 

I'm emailing to share this opportunity to provide comments to members of the Portland City Council on two agenda items that impact safe streets: 

• Forest Avenue Redesign - final draft (this is for the section closest to USM) 
• Vision Zero Action Plan - including discussion of speed limits and enforcement 

For each item, public comment (three minutes per person) will be taken after staff presentations. 

Slowing down vehicle speeds is critical. And the reality is that it makes us all safer, whether we are driving, walking, or wheeling. Though we are all pressed for time, driving fast through the city rarely makes much of a difference in the overall travel time.
