Walking, cycling, and riding friends!

I encourage folks who are intercity train or bus riders to attend this hearing in an hour. The Downeaster station comes up last on the agenda, so it may be closer to 6pm. More details here: https://portlandme.portal.civicclerk.com/event/7641/files/agenda/16897

PBPAC has expressed concerns with NNEPRA's initial preference for a station far to the south of Congress Street, in a currently industrial area with scant Metro service or connections to the rest of the city. They want to be able to provide their own parking, and keep open the possibility of adding a future commuter rail service to Westbrook. We want to see the service follow best practices of smart growth and transportation that supports housing, walkability, and interconnectivity.

As a Westbrook resident, I’d love to see a commuter rail to Westbrook. Could it still be done from the other locations, albeit less conveniently or cheaply?
