Police Investigate Crash On Riverside Street

PORTLAND, Maine — On Sunday, December 28, 2025, at approximately 6:48 p.m., Portland Police responded to the area of 654 Riverside Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

An officer working nearby at the homeless service center responded immediately and was informed by witnesses that the pedestrian was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle. The vehicle stopped briefly before fleeing the scene toward Forest Avenue.

The victim, a 25-year-old resident of the shelter, was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle involved is described as a silver SUV, believed to be an older-model Honda CR-V. 

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have information to contact Portland Police at (207) 874-8575. Tips may also be submitted by texting the keyword PPDME and your message to 847411.
