Hi all,

I thought folks would be interested in this online presentation. While a lot of this will be directed at system failures and drivers, there is feedback specifically for cyclists about the experiences of folks who are hard of hearing.
Thanks! Best, Zoe

What Nondrivers Want the World to Know
Wednesday, November 19, 12pm-1pm, on Zoom

Roughly a third of Mainers do not drive. Some are too young or have a disability that prevents it, while others are prohibited for medical or legal reasons. In this auto-centric world, living as a nondriver requires a level of self-advocacy and day-to-day planning that is invisible to most people who drive. In fact, a majority of decision-makers have personal vehicles waiting in their driveways and rarely think about what it means to rely walking, rolling, and getting driven by others.

At November's Mobility Learning Community, we will hear the perspectives and experiences of nondrivers. Our session will feature a conversation with Mainers Kristi Woods and Steve Hoad and a presentation from Anna Zivarts, author of When Driving Is Not an Option: Steering Away from Car Dependency

Please join us this Wednesday, November 19, from 12pm-1pm! The session will include time for discussion, relationship-building, and information-sharing. We encourage you to invite elected and appointed leaders from your community as well!

Moving Maine hosts the Mobility Learning Community on the third Wednesdays of September, November, January, March and May from 12pm-1pm on Zoom. These interactive lunchtime sessions are an opportunity for community members and partners from around the state to network and learn together.
