PBPAC Members: Please read the below, and circulate far and wide, to anyone in Portland who wants to pitch in more to serve their community!
Hello friends and fellow advocates of walking, biking, wheeling and riding transit in Portland!
The Portland Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee wants you to join its volunteer leadership team! PBPAC leaders serve as advocates and coordinators of information and volunteer opportunities for Portland residents as we work with the city and other partners to make this a safer, greener, and more joyous place for everyone.
Maybe you've been here for years and feel ready to step up and do more to fix our sidewalks, ADA ramps, and bike lanes. Maybe you're new here and you've noticed that our transportation infrastructure doesn't quite meet the progressive standards and walkable scale that our great city has. Portland ranks
only 38 out of 100 according to People for Bike, and in recent years we've been passed by neighbors like Burlington, VT, Somerville, MA, and even the notable biking haven of Fayetteville, Arkansas. We can, and will, do better!
Great projects are in the works to return Franklin Street, Libbytown, State and High and York Streets to human-scale. Much more can be done to make our city accessible to all of us, and built to meet the needs of the people who call Portland home.
PBPAC leadership is a modest commitment of time, and flexible depending on your capacity and interests. The positions will include the executive committee, as well as some district and neighborhood leadership roles. We are an ad hoc organization, based around our commitments and values. You're not managing money or people, just ideas and energy. If you're interested, reach out to us to learn more!
