I agree with sending the letter.
Note, I am opposed to Sunday parking fees for two reasons. One the affect on religious orgs who services sometimes run into the afternoon. Sunday Football, we should not be discouraging anyone from coming into the city on weekends. They want easy street parking and will balk at having to pay. As one who goes out to bars/restaurants watch sports, I can tell you most of the folks at the sports bars are from outside the city and will NEVER use public transportation. They will go elsewhere.
Some clarifications
The committee did not actually kill the Sunday part as they made no motion on the matter and left it to the council meeting to put forward an amendment, but the orders submitted for approval show no street parking changes and the budget has only a small change related to another amendment.
This change was a total turn around from the previous meeting so their has been some heavy lobbying against it. Even Wes is going along with the changes.
There are two opportunities to comment on the city budget, tommorrow night at 5:00 pm and Monday June 1, 2026 at 5:00 pm.
